Like the newer town above, the Old Town of Ragusa, a quiet quarter of narrow streets, was also largely rebuilt in the Baroque style after the 1963 earthquake, so you will see examples of 18th-century architecture scattered among other buildings that survived before the earthquake.

Like Ragusa, only fifteen kilometers away, Modica was damaged in the 1693 earthquake and was largely rebuilt in the Sicilian Baroque style.
